Problems Arise
Problems arise quickly in the new environment. As the boys busily collect materials for a fire and a structure they hear the sound of a helicopter. Too late they realize it has passed overhead without seeing them. Worse, they realize Piggy has abandoned his lookout post.
Piggy has strayed from his lookout post to offer advice on building a structure.
The boys spot a rescue helicopter after it has already passed them by
The younger boys feel a sense of darkness
Feeling dejected after not spotting the helicopter, the boys stare into the ocean
