Before leaving Explorama, we set out on Bushmaster Trail for the
tiny recreated Yagua Indian Village. The Bushmaster is one of the
most venomous snakes in the world, and this trail was named for
one that was found there when it was being created.
The Yaguas are a friendly bunch, they are trying to preserve their
way of life and have invited Explorama to bring their groups in
on a regular basis. They are happy to trade their crafts with tourists
for such items as T-shirts, candy, cigarettes, etc.
Prior to setting out, Raul (our fabulous native tour guide) painted
our faces with the flesh of a native fruit. This protects against
mosquitos and also looks pretty slick if you are going out on a
date in the jungle.
