Being Gay | Drugs | Religion

Being Gay

Being gay means that you are attracted to members of the same sex from within your own species. If you are attracted to members of a different species (regardless of sex), then you have a serious problem. However, if you are gay, bisexual, or heterosexual, then no problemo.

The first step to happiness for gay people is to come out in some meaningful way. Going to bathhouses and having sex with random strangers is not a meaningful way. Coming out to your friends and relatives, presenting yourself in a positive manner, and defending your rights is meaningful.

This "coming out" process brings a lot of good things to most people. First it brings you a great deal of confidence in yourself. Having good self-confidence is at the core of a healthy, happy life. Second, coming out will help you find wonderful, cherished new friends, and it will immediately eliminate some people who you may have only thought were your friends. People that have a problem with you if you are gay are just dead weight requiring maintenance. In most cases it is not worth the trouble. It is like performing CPR on your family's German Shepard that got hit by a train while you were on vacation.

Anyway... (that was sick). The point is, people are most happy when they are comfortable with themselves. It is hard to be in the closet and be comfortable with yourself at the same time. And since there is absolutely nothing wrong with being gay, there is not good reason to not be out.

Okay, so you say you live in Little Pass, Mississippi and it isn't kewl to be gay there? GET THE HECK OUT OF THERE!!! I know, most of the people reading this are very young, and combined with the Little Pass, MS problem, I could probably understand being in the closet. However, even in this case you should try and find someone that you can trust to be able to talk to about your feelings. If not, you can always find someone you can relate to on the Internet.

Oh yeah, one more thing (OMT).... If you are bisexual and getting harassed by gay people who are calling you a closet case, tell them to get over it! Usually this means they are jealous because they want to get with you and you are not interested!

Drugs

Drugs are bad mmmmmmmmmkay????

First of all, what is a drug? I am only going to talk about recreational drugs, i.e. alcohol, narcotics, and prescription drugs that are taken for recreational purposes.

In general, drugs (including alcohol) are bad. They cause a lot of problems in people's personal and physical lives, they can destroy various organs of your body, ruin relationships, cause depression, cost a lot of money, can cause death or injury through various accidents as well as violence, can cause a serious lack of motivation, impair judgment and memory, and a whole host of other problems that I haven't even thought of.

HOWEVER..... I believe that some recreational drugs taken in reasonable moderate amounts can be therapeutic to some people. I have known of some people that have lived very sheltered lives and were so inhibited that they never developed basic social skills. Had it not been for trying some certain substances, they may have never lowered their inhibition levels enough to carry on a conversation with anyone.

I have also seen cases where drug use has helped people to become more in tune with themselves as well as the environment. Shrooms is a great example of one that helps you get in touch with nature. I've seen people who had had a few drink become more able to tell a loved one how much they really cared about them.

What I can't understand is the alcohol laws in this country. Can someone please explain to me why it is legal to buy beer and liquor and get all messed up, yet it is illegal to buy pot or cocaine? Have you ever read about a car wreck where someone was on coke or pot? I haven't. I am sure it has happened, of course, but it is much less likely than alcohol. And why is it legal to buy and smoke cigarettes, but you can't smoke pot or do ecstasy? I really dunno. Also, why do you have to be 21 to drink alcohol? We can trust teenagers to be jet fighter pilots and destroy human life, but they can't drink! When they are 16 we trust them to drive, when they are 18 they can buy a house, but they can't drink!

This is all for now, I am just getting this philosophy section started, I will come back with actual fact and figures and more information later on.

Meanwhile, let me say that if you are having trouble with drugs or alcohol, GET HELP! There is a lot of FREE help available.

Religion

First off, I should say that I have the most respect for people's right to believe whatever they want. However, having said that, I personally think that most people who are dedicated to some form of organized religion are using it to cover up some insecurity. Most of the Christians I have been accosted by were either raised with it beaten into their heads, or they "found jesus" when they were on drugs, in prison, in the hospital, or when they start getting old. I have never known of a healthy, free, intelligent adult who suddenly "found" jesus.

My opinion is that God - or whatever you want to call it - is too big and powerful to fit into any organized religion, book, or faith.

What really bothers me is how the Christians have traveled from country to country over the centuries killing off the native people and forcing them into Christianity. And they continue to spread their hate even today towards gay people.

To me a religion should be about love, happiness, and taking care of yourself and others. If you know of a religion like this (that doesn't want money), please let me know!
